It’s NOT a regular Store, it’s a Żappka Store! Innovative facilities now available in 4 locations

The Żappka Store is now available in four locations: two in Poznań, in Kraków and Warsaw. A unique concept on the market allows you to buy a snack or drink in seconds, without queues, without cash or contact with attendants. All you need is a smartphone with the Żappka app installed and the Żappka Pay service enabled. The concept will now be developed and improved. The first store was launched in June this year in Poznań on the premises of the Poznań International Fair.

The Żappka Store uses an innovative AI-based technology, which was created thanks to the cooperation of Żabka Future with American technology company AiFi. It is a concept that the chain is constantly improving and developing, using among others, customer observations regarding e.g. products or amenities that can improve the functioning of this place. In the maintenance-free Żappka Store in Bracka Street in Warsaw and the Lubicz-Basztowa underground passage in Krakow the product mix has been expanded – in each facility there are about 500 different products, among them sweets, ready meals, salty and sweet snacks and drinks, as well as hot, freshly ground coffee from the coffee machine.

The Żappka Store is a format designed for locations where the potential for opening a standard Żabka store is non-existent or very limited, as is the case of railway stations. The concept is based on the latest technologies, such as advanced image processing models using artificial intelligence algorithms for customer service and intelligent solutions for managing power, security and store availability.

Shopping in the Żappka Store is very easy. All you need is a smartphone with the żappka app installed and the Żappka Pay service activated. Before entering the Żappka Store, the application will generate a single-use QR code assigned to the store, which must be scanned on the reader at the door. Once the code has been scanned, the door will open automatically. Once we’re inside, the shopping will only take a moment – just take some products off the shelf and… go out.

The camera system installed in Żappka Store, using algorithms, among others, of deep learning, will recognize the products removed from the shelves, will charge the appropriate amount, and then finalize the payment using the payment card attached to Żappka Pay. The system does not identify customers, nor does it remember the images, which guarantees full privacy and security.

The Żappka Store was created as part of the Żabka Future Business Incubator, which combines three elements: managing and searching for innovations, transforming them into new products and services and commercializing them. The project fits perfectly with the strategy of the Żabka Group, which assumes the implementation of actions aimed at maintaining climate neutrality – all Żappka Store uses only the green energy equivalent for their activities.
